Oprah Winfrey’s Podcast Moves to Amazon in Multi-Year Distribution Deal

Published on April 28, 2026

Oprah Winfrey’s podcast, “The Oprah Podcast,” has been a staple in the audio landscape since its launch in December 2024. Her production company, Harpo Entertainment, has established her show as a platform for meaningful conversations. Until now, the podcast primarily existed across various streaming services.

This week, a significant shift emerged as Harpo announced a multi-year agreement with Amazon, granting Wondery exclusive rights for distribution and advertising. As part of this deal, Winfrey’s podcast will double its output, offering two new episodes per week starting this summer. Additionally, Wondery will manage audio and video distribution across Amazon’s diverse platforms.

The agreement also includes Amazon’s acquisition of the extensive library from “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” which aired from 1986 to 2011. This expansion could create tensions with independent booksellers, especially as Winfrey has collaborated with competitors like Apple and Starbucks in recent years. A spokesperson for the American Booksellers Association has not yet commented on the potential ramifications. Related News
