Roblox Settles with Nevada for $12 Million Amid Ongoing Legal Battles

Published on April 17, 2026

Roblox, the popular online gaming platform, has been navigating a turbulent legal landscape. With over 100 lawsuits pending, including several from state attorneys general, the company announced this week a $12 million settlement with Nevada. This agreement allows Roblox to avoid trial while signaling a strong response to ongoing concerns about child safety on its platform.

The settlement comes in the wake of serious allegations regarding the platform facilitating child exploitation. Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford emphasized that the deal aims to enhance online safety for children. As part of the agreement, Roblox will allocate $10 million over three years to support local children’s programs and dedicate an additional $2.5 million for a law enforcement liaison and awareness initiatives.

To further improve safety, Roblox will introduce new safety measures, including an age verification system that combines facial recognition technology with government-issued IDs. Children will only be allowed to communicate with players of a similar age, and those under 16 will have messaging restrictions with adults, ensuring only trusted friends can connect.

While this settlement marks progress in addressing safety concerns, Roblox still faces lawsuits from various states, including Kentucky and Texas, related to claims of child exploitation. The company is under pressure to implement more robust measures to protect its youngest users, indicating that regulatory scrutiny surrounding online platforms is far from over.
