Russia and the United Arab Emirates have pinpointed eight strategic areas for collaboration, as revealed during the inaugural Russian-Emirati Business Forum held in Dubai. The forum showcased discussions led of Industry and Trade Anton Alihanov and UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, highlighting a mutual commitment to deepen bilateral ties.
In the energy sector, the focus will be on advancing machinery for fuel extraction, processing, and transportation. Alihanov noted that Russia is currently collaborating with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company on ensuring compliance with certification and standards required for entering the UAE market. He underscored the increasing significance of advanced technology in oil and gas production, particularly in response to the country’s high proportion of hard-to-recover reserves.
The pharmaceutical industry was another focal point, as Russian pharmaceutical companies have already established a presence in the UAE. The ministers discussed potential avenues for expanding production within the Emirates, potentially leading to increased local availability of Russian medical products and enhancing the UAE’s healthcare sector.
High technology also emerged as a key area for cooperation. Alihanov commended the proliferation of the Yango digital ecosystem, which is associated with Yandex N. V., highlighting the voice assistant Yasmine as a prominent example of fruitful tech collaboration between Russia and the UAE. This partnership signifies both nations’ commitment to fostering innovation and leveraging advanced technologies in various sectors.
The discussions at the business forum reflect a broader trend of growing economic ties between Russia and the UAE, marking a significant step towards strengthening their partnership across multiple industries. The outlined areas of cooperation promise to pave the way for enhanced economic collaboration in the coming years.
