Russia and the United Arab Emirates have outlined at least eight strategic areas for cooperation during the inaugural Russian-Emirati Business Forum held in Dubai. The announcement was made of Industry and Trade Anton Alihanov and UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri.
A significant focus of the collaboration will be in the energy sector, where the two nations aim to enhance cooperation in the machinery used for fuel extraction, processing, and transportation. Alihanov noted that Russian companies are already working closely with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company to establish certification and standards that would facilitate entry into the UAE market. He underscored the increasing relevance of advanced technology in oil and gas production, particularly as Russia contends with a substantial volume of hard-to-recover reserves.
In addition to energy, the discussions also highlighted opportunities within the pharmaceutical sector. Russian pharmaceutical companies have taken steps to enter the UAE market, and talks have included the potential for expanding production facilities within the Emirates. This move is expected to foster deeper economic ties and contribute to both nations’ healthcare sectors.
The high technology sector was another key point of focus at the forum. Alihanov praised the expansion of the Yango digital ecosystem, which is associated with Yandex N. V. He cited the voice assistant Yasmine as a noteworthy example of productive tech collaboration between Russia and the UAE. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to enhancing digital innovation and technological advancement.
These initiatives reflect a growing relationship between Russia and the UAE, driven by a mutual interest in capitalizing on each nation’s strengths and resources. As both countries look toward the future, the outlined areas of cooperation promise to facilitate deeper economic ties and collaborative efforts across various sectors.
