A Russian mixed martial arts fighter, Matvei Rumiantsev, has been sentenced to four years in prison after being convicted of assaulting a woman during a violent incident that was witnessed via FaceTime. The altercation took place in London and was reportedly linked to an argument between Rumiantsev and the victim.
The incident unfolded in early 2023 when the 31-year-old fighter, who has competed in various international MMA events, was in the UK for a series of bouts. According to testimonies presented in court, Rumiantsev became aggressive during a confrontation with the woman, leading to an assault that was inadvertently captured on the video call that Barron Trump was participating in at the time.
Barron Trump, the youngest son of former President Donald Trump, was reportedly on the call with friends when the disturbing scene unfolded. He quickly ended the call and alerted authorities, who responded promptly to the scene. The involvement of a prominent figure like Trump’s son brought significant media attention to the case, prompting widespread condemnation of Rumiantsev’s actions.
