For avid runners, smartwatches have become essential companions. They promise accurate tracking of steps, distance, and heart rate. But how reliable are these devices in real-world conditions?
I decided to put five leading smartwatches to the test: Apple, Garmin, Samsung, Google, and Amazfit. Over a grueling 30-mile course, I compared their performance while monitoring various metrics. The results revealed significant discrepancies in accuracy and reliability.
The Garmin watch stood out, providing consistent readings for all metrics. In contrast, the Apple and Samsung devices often miscalculated distance, affecting overall performance. Google and Amazfit struggled with heart rate accuracy, which is crucial for serious athletes.
This experiment highlighted the need for reliability in fitness technology. While some brands excel in specific areas, others fall short. Runners deserve smartwatches they can trust, and this test underscores the selection process for the best device.
