In Grapevine, Texas, a Tesla Cybertruck drove into Katie’s Woods Park Lake, with its driver hoping to test the vehicle’s much-touted “wade mode.” This feature promises to enhance performance while driving through water, making it an attractive feature for adventurous owners.
The situation quickly escalated when the truck became disabled and began taking on water. According to the Grapevine police department, the driver and accompanying passengers abandoned the vehicle before calling for assistance.
Authorities successfully recovered the Cybertruck from the lake shortly thereafter. The police reported that the driver admitted to intentionally entering the water to try out the futuristic capability, but the outcome was far from what they expected.
This incident raises questions about the practical applications of such features in real-world conditions. It also highlights the potential dangers of testing vehicle capabilities in uncontrolled environments, reminding owners to approach new technologies with caution.
