SABRATON – The doctor will see you now. Rosalind Street was wearing her surgical scrubs Wednesday morning while encamped in front of an array of charts and posters – all designed to showcase various aspects of a medical career. The display was part of a career exploration event organized School, where students had the opportunity to engage with professionals from different fields.

The event aimed to provide students with a glimpse into potential future careers and offered insights from experts in sectors ranging from healthcare to technology and the arts. Attendees were able to ask questions and learn firsthand about the educational pathways and day-to-day experiences associated with various professions.

Street, who is pursuing a career in medicine, emphasized the importance of such events for young people. “It gives us a chance to learn about the realities of different careers, not just what we see on TV,” she stated. Her passion for helping others and contributing to the community fueled her interest in the medical field, and she hopes to inspire her peers to consider careers in healthcare.

In addition to medical professionals, guests included engineers, educators, and business leaders, all eager to share their knowledge and experiences. Matthew Johnson, a local engineer, discussed the innovative projects he has worked on, highlighting the growing importance of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields in today’s job market.

The event also featured interactive workshops, where students could participate in hands-on activities related to various careers. For example, a workshop led by a local artist allowed students to explore their creative sides while learning about the challenges and rewards of a career in the arts.

Feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing gratitude for the opportunity to gain insight into their future options. “Talking to professionals really opened my eyes to what’s out there,” said junior Emily Carter, who is interested in pursuing a career in environmental science.

As the event concluded, teachers and organizers reiterated the importance of exposure to various career paths early in a student’s academic journey. They believe that such experiences will foster informed decision-making regarding future educational and career choices.

Overall, the career exploration event at Trinity High School successfully brought students face-to-face with the possibilities that lie ahead in their professional lives, empowering them to make informed decisions about their futures.
