“Verano Rojo” is a low-cost film shot and set in Mallorca, falling under the Slasher horror genre. Currently in post-production, the team behind this ambitious project is seeking support to bring it to light.
Designed for lovers of this subgenre, the film aims to pay homage to its roots. It follows a classic structure while adding a Mediterranean flavor. “Verano Rojo” is written, directed, and edited , a graduate of the ESCAC (Higher School of Cinema and Audiovisuals of Catalonia).
The film tells the story of four young people who arrive in Mallorca for what appears to be an idyllic summer vacation. In their pursuit of sun, beach, and fun, they venture into the island’s most inhospitable landscapes, embarking on a hellish journey.
The teaser trailer for “Verano Rojo” was showcased at the Nocturna International Fantastic Film Festival in Madrid and the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival, both in 2015.
This project was born from the passion of film students eager to create. With a nearly nonexistent budget, the production of this feature film began, with everyone involved contributing their talents in their respective fields. It is a low-cost film where more passion than money was invested, adapting daily routines to budget constraints and using whatever was available over the 40-day shoot.
They are currently in the midst of crowdfunding, with just seven days remaining. The team has set a goal of raising €7,000 to complete the film, and everyone can participate, either film or and contributing in whatever way they can. Various rewards will be given based on contributions.
You can find more information or offer your support crowdfunding page. Best of luck to the team behind “Verano Rojo” as they work towards their goal, and we hope to see the film in cinemas soon.
