The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy rains in Maharashtra, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh, warning residents to prepare for inclement weather conditions. This alert comes as the IMD forecasts continued rainfall in these states until April 4, driven Western disturbances expected to influence the region.
In Maharashtra, several districts are likely to experience significant precipitation, particularly in the Konkan coast and parts of the interior. Authorities are advising people to stay indoors during heavy rainfall and to avoid unnecessary travel. The increased rainfall is also expected to lead to cooler temperatures across the state, providing some respite from the recent heat wave.
Telangana is also bracing for similar heavy rains, with the IMD predicting thunderstorms and gusty winds alongside the downpour. Districts in the northern and central parts of the state should be particularly vigilant, as localized flooding and disruptions to daily life are anticipated. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and be cautious while traveling.
Chhattisgarh is not exempt from the impending deluge, with forecasts indicating heavy rain in several areas until early April. The IMD has warned of a potential rise in water levels in rivers and streams, urging those living in low-lying areas to be cautious and prepared for possible evacuation if necessary.
As these weather patterns develop, the IMD advises all residents in the affected states to stay updated on weather alerts and to follow instructions from local authorities. The situation is being closely monitored, and teams are on stand assistance in case of emergencies.
