Yelp has long been a staple for finding local services and reading user reviews. Users could previously request quotes from various businesses, but the platform now aims to expand its role in consumers’ lives. The introduction of AI-powered features marks a notable shift for the service.
In a significant update, Yelp has integrated with platforms like DoorDash, Zocdoc, and Vagaro. Users can now book appointments or order food directly from Yelp listings. The new Yelp Assistant can also answer follow-up questions, enhancing the user experience with tailored recommendations.
This transformation is strategic as Yelp faces competition from AI-driven search tools and social media platforms for local recommendations. Despite these challenges, 63% of users still prefer verifying answers through trusted sources like Yelp. The company highlights the trustworthiness of user-generated reviews to maintain its relevance.
With approximately 22 million new reviews submitted last year, Yelp continues to harness community contributions. The updated app will soon feature integrations for scheduling appointments, solidifying Yelp’s place as a trusted destination for local services in an evolving digital landscape.
