Deezer, the Paris-based music streaming service, recently revealed a startling shift in its platform. Traditionally a hub for human-made music, it now sees nearly 75,000 uploads of AI-generated tracks each day. This accounts for 44 percent of all new content, amounting to approximately 2 million AI tracks per month.
The spike in AI-generated music follows the launch of Deezer’s proprietary detection tool in January 2025. Initially, the platform recorded about 20,000 daily uploads of AI tracks, which was roughly 18 percent of overall contributions. Despite the increasing volume, only 1 to 3 percent of total streams feature AI music, with many marked as fraudulent.
Deezer’s detection system can identify music produced tools like Suno and Udio. While some AI music generators faced early legal challenges, others have successfully negotiated deals with major record labels. In parallel, other platforms like Coda Music are developing their own verification methods to address the flood of AI content.
This rapid rise of AI-generated music raises significant questions for the industry. As Deezer takes steps to monitor and manage uploads, the implications for artists and streaming norms could reshape music consumption. The impact of AI on creativity and authenticity in music continues to unfold.
