NVIDIA Launches 12GB Variant of 5070 GPU for Laptops

Published on April 28, 2026

NVIDIA is expanding its GeForce RTX lineup with a new 12GB version of its 5070 GPU for laptops. Until now, the 50-series has primarily featured the 8GB model, which has been standard since its launch. This new release comes as NVIDIA aims to meet rising demand for powerful graphics solutions.

The company cited a constrained memory supply as a driving factor behind this change. To address this, NVIDIA is introducing the 12GB model, utilizing 24Gb G7 memory. This strategic move allows partners greater flexibility in memory options, complementing the existing 16Gb G7 supply.

The first laptops with the 12GB 5070 are expected to ship in June, with brands like ASUS, Lenovo, and MSI set to include this new GPU in their offerings. While NVIDIA has yet to announce official pricing, reports suggest these laptops could remain competitive with the current 5070 Ti models, which start at around $2,650.

NVIDIA has not disclosed the full specifications for the 12GB variant. While it offers increased VRAM, its performance may not match higher-tier models due to potential bottlenecks in accessing the memory. This nuance may affect gaming performance, leaving consumers to weigh the benefits of added memory against overall efficiency.
